Husky Survives Being Hit By Train With Drivers Quick Thinking:
A husky that suffered near fatal injuries when it was hit by a train is on the way towards making a full recovery.
Sky the Siberian husky suffered horrific injuries to her face when she was struck by the vehicle in Witham, Essex. The two-year-old dog’s owner Lisa Brady is selling her car to fund the medical bills of more than £10,000, and has set up a crowdfunding campaign to help.
Sky was taken straight to a vet but was too ill for surgery for a week (Picture: SWNS) Lisa, 26, said: ‘It was a miracle she survived that day, but she did and now has a long road ahead for recovery.
‘Sky pup is doing really well and she is finally settling down at home again. You can tell her face is sore but just gets on with it.’ It's all kicking off in London after England beat Colombia in World Cup Sky was hit by the train after she escaped from the family’s garden on June 7.
The driver hauled it to a stop following the impact and put Sky in the carriage with him to nearby Colchester, where British Transport Police arranged for a pet ambulance.
Vets at Dick White Referrals veterinary surgery near Cambridge said that Sky was so badly injured they could not operate on her for a week.
Incredibly she is back at home and is recovering (Picture: SWNS) Sky’s medical bills have soared past the £10,000 mark.
A spokesman said: ‘She was assessed by the Neurology and Soft Tissue Surgery Teams at the clinic and given a whole body CT scan.
‘This showed that the cheekbone and lower jawbone were fractured, with bone protruding through the skin and prone to infection.
‘Also, the skin on the right hand side of Sky’s face, from the edge of her lip to her neck, including the ear had been torn away from the underlying tissue.’
A week after surgery, Sky was taken home – but the medical bills are continuing to mount. Lisa has said she will repay all the money donated to animal charities when she is able. To donate, click here.
